Granulated Sugar — Grams & Cups Converter
1 cup of granulated sugar (also called white sugar) weighs about 200 g. So 100 g ≈ 1/2 cup, 200 g ≈ 1 cup, and 300 g ≈ 1 1/2 cups. Convert any amount between grams, cups, ounces, tablespoons and millilitres with the calculator below.
💡 Tip: Granulated sugar weighs about 200 g per cup. It swaps 1:1 by weight with caster (superfine) sugar; caster just dissolves faster.

White sugar weights: cups, tablespoons and teaspoons
Granulated sugar is the easy one to convert because the numbers are round: 1 cup is 200g, so ½ cup is 100g and ¼ cup is 50g. A tablespoon is about 12.5g and a teaspoon about 4.2g.
Need caster or superfine sugar instead? It is the same sugar milled finer, so use the same weights — 1:1 — and it will simply dissolve a little quicker into batters and meringues.
